A Letter From Our Founder

Welcome to Love’s Healspace,

This organization is deeply personal to me as it comes from many of the hardest moments in my life and experiences that made me who I am today.

I grew up surrounded by rescue animals and spent most of my childhood working with dogs and horses. Through animals, I learned patience, responsibility, and how to connect without words. More importantly, they provided consistency, comfort, and gave me a sense of peace and stability during times when life felt uncertain.

I saw firsthand how these living beings could transform my life. I also witnessed how being responsible for another living thing could give a person purpose, confidence, and direction.

When I was in high school, my dad went back to prison. It was an extremely emotional and stressful time in my life. I felt completely isolated and I turned towards the animals for comfort. Around the same time, my horse passed away. The only place I knew to turn was back to the dog rescue.

While doing paperwork one day, I got a call that we were getting in a puppy that had just been thrown out of a moving car. I knew I couldn’t just leave her in the shelter alone with all of her broken bones and no one to support her. I took Love home with her little heart shaped nose and she forever changed my life. Caring for her brought back stability and purpose. Love proved what I had known all along: the connection between humans and animals has the power to heal.

The emotional strain, uncertainty, and long-term impact of my dad being incarcerated shaped my understanding of how important it is to create real pathways for healing, growth, and stability. I knew I wanted to build something where others could experience that same sense of purpose and connection. A place that would help people feel seen, develop sensitivity and compassion, and escape into a world that allows healing from within.

Love’s Healspace was created from that vision.

Our programs are built on the belief that animals truly do heal. We provide therapeutic, animal-assisted environments where individuals, especially those impacted by incarceration, can develop both practical skills and emotional growth.

Participants in our programs gain life skills like certifications and job preparation, as well as emotional tools like developing empathy and understanding toward not just animals, but people too. Meanwhile, rescue animals receive consistent care, training, and improved opportunities for adoption.

This work is all about second chances and opportunities for healing for people and animals. It is about restoring dignity, rebuilding trust, and supporting long-term change that strengthens individuals, families, and communities.

As much as animals need us to save them, we need animals to save us. All people, whether they are justice-impacted, disabled, or mentally struggling, should have access to animal-assisted therapeutic settings.

Love changed my life. Love’s Healspace exists to offer that same opportunity for healing and purpose to others. Thank you for being here and for believing in this mission.

With love,

Founder & President
